Germany: Thousands stage 'warning strike' to employer Mercedes Benz in Sindelfingen plant

Thousand rallied at the Mercedes Benz factory in Sindelfingen on Tuesday, demanding better working conditions, warning that protests will persist if their demands are not met by the end of the month.

The protest was organized by the Industrial Union of Metalworkers, IG Metall.

Protesters gathered holding placards, wearing red hats and waving red flags - symbols of the union- and playing drums as they voiced their discontent.

Roman Zitzelsberger, IG Metall district manager outlined the demands saying: "We want a six percent pay rise, the legal right to fewer hours still being regarded as a full-time job so a shorter minimum working week, and subsidies for our children's education when we're doing shift work."

Zitzelsberger followed that whether the protests will escalate or not will be determined after the negotiations with their employers, due to take place on the 24th of January.
