
USA: White House points finger at North Korea in WannaCry cyber attack
White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert confirmed during a press conference in Washington DC on Tuesday that North Korean actors were behind the WannaCry cyber-attack in May. Bossert called on the private sector to join forces with the government and “increase its accountability in the cyber realm by taking actions that deny North Korea and the bad actors the ability to launch reckless and destructive cyber acts.”Bossert praised the work of Microsoft and Facebook “for acting on their own initiatives last week without any directions by the US government coordination, to disrupt the activities of North Korean hackers.”
