Presidential candidate Salvador Nasralla led hundreds of anti-government protesters through the streets of Tegucigualpa on Sunday, with supporters calling the country’s recent election results "unconstitutional and illegal."

"On Friday night we will present before the electoral tribunal, by request of the international community, a challenge to cancel the ballot and fly to count all votes with security measures," Nasralla said, addressing the crowd.

The Alianza de Oposicion (Opposition Alliance) and the Liberal Party have submitted official documents calling for the November 26 election to be annulled and for a recount to take place.

The official electoral results left President Juan Orlando Hernandez 1.6 points ahead of Alianza de Oposicion Contra la Dictadura (Opposition Alliance against Dictatorship) leader Salvador Nasralla. However, both men have claimed victory.
