Papa New Guinea (PNG) police officers beat refugees with long metal poles on Friday, as they pulled them out from a decomissioned camp on Manus Island.

Police had entered the former Australian-run detention camp the day before, and ordered hundreds of asylum seekers to leave.

The people in the camp had protested against the police while authorities reportedly destroyed their shelters and possessions. According to people in the centre, PNG police gave them one-hour to leave the facility.
