UK: Galloway warns US government taking ‘dark and dangerous path’
Politician and broadcaster George Galloway warned the US government is taking a “dark and dangerous path” by ordering Russia Today to register as a foreign agent, in an interview Tuesday,
He said: “It is branding journalists as agents and that's very dangerous, of course, for the safety of journalists in many hotspots and difficult parts of the world.”
He added: “If we're going to brand one group of journalists and broadcasters as foreign agents then inevitably all journalists will be branded by somebody as a foreign agent. So, I'm not surprised the committee to protect journalists in New York City have made the statements that they have."
On Monday, Russia Today complied with an order from the US Department of Justice to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
