UK: Northern Irish veterans protest against future amnesty deal for republicans

The Northern Ireland Crown Forces Veterans for Justice gathered outside Belfast City Hall, Saturday, to protest against any future political deal involving amnesty for Irish Republican fighters and security members during the Northern Ireland conflict.

NI Crown Forces Veterans for Justice oppose the statute of limitations for crimes connected to the Troubles, which raged from the late sixties until the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, on the basis that it would "give an equivalence to terrorists."

John Ross, a veteran of the Parachute Regiment, asserted that "if this law comes through it effectively santises and legitimises the whole Republican terrorist campaign, this is what they're after, this is what they crave for and it must be resisted and the people of Northern Ireland must never and will never accept that."
