Russia: Putin greets participants of the XIX International Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted participants of the XIX International Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi on Sunday.

"The first festival was held seven decades ago. Back then, young men and women of your age were brought together by the power of a dream," said the President.

The opening ceremony took place at The Bolshoy Ice Dome, in Sochi's Olympic Park. The closing ceremony will be held on October 21 at the same venue.

Within the framework of the Festival 2017, participants are expected to get engaged in various programs and projects, to meet with the specially invited guests, including several Russian ministers, as well as some "celebrities", such as French writer Frederick Begbeder, motivational speaker Nick Vuychich, famous athletes, models, actors and directors, singers and musicians.

It is the third time in Russia's history that it hosts such an international event that gets together young people from across the world. This time number of participants to join the Festival sets records in the event's history and amounts up to 30 thousand people from 180 countries.

On October 14, the carnival on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first Moscow's Festival of Youth and Students 1957 took place in Russia's capital and gave a start to the XIX International Festival of Youth and Students 2017.

El presidente de la Federación Rusa, Vladimir Putin, saludó a los participantes del 19no Festival Mundial de la Juventud y los Estudiantes, que tiene lugar en la ciudad balneario de Sochi. El evento cuenta con la presencia de más de 20 mil jóvenes de 150 países. Durante el festival se espera realización de varias actividades y programas con presencia de varios modelos, actores, cantantes, musicos y personas famosas como el escritor Frederick Begbeder.

Es la tercera vez en la historia de Rusia que alberga este evento internacional reuniendo a jóvenes de todo el mundo. Este año se celebra el 60 aniversario de aquel evento juvenil que se realizó en 1957 en Moscú.

La ceremonia de inauguración se efectuó en el Palacio de Hielo de Bolshoi en Sochi, sede de los XXII Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno de 2014. La ceremonia de clausura se realizará el 21 de octubre en el mismo lugar.
