SOT, Donald Trump, US President (English): "Well, we want to get massive border security. And I think that both Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, I think they agree with it, but - So we met last night with, as you know, Schumer, Pelosi and a whole group, and I think we are fairly close, but we have to get massive border security."

SOT, Donald Trump, US President (English): "Oh, I think he's on board. Mitch is on board, Paul Ryan's on board. We all feel - look, 92 per cent of the people agree on DACA - but what we want is we want very, very powerful border security, okay? We're going down to Florida, we'll see you down in Florida." *JUMP CUT AT SOURCE*

US President Donald Trump talked about plans concerning the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) programme and a "massive border security as part of that," addressing the press outside of the White House in Washington DC, Thursday.

Trump was on his way to Florida to inspect the extent of the damages caused by Hurricane Irma.

Speaking on DACA, the president announced, "we're working on a plan, we'll see how it works out. But we are going to get massive border security as part of that."

Trump then gave an update on the construction of the US-Mexican border wall pointing out that "large sections of wall, massive sections" are being renovated and made "brand new." He added, "We are building four different samples of the wall to see which one we're going to choose, and the wall is going to be built - it will be funded a little bit later."

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions officially announced Trump's decision to rescind the DACA programme last week, leaving Congress to come up with an alternative legislation to regulate the people under DACA's protection within the next six months.

The administration of former US President Barack Obama established the DACA programme in 2012 to enable migrants, who were brought illegally to the country as children, to apply for a temporary right to study or work in the USA. A successful application would mean that they are able to defer the threat of possible deportation for another two years.
