North Korean ambassador to Russia, Kim Hyun Joong, held a press conference in Moscow, on Tuesday, denouncing recent resolutions by the UN Security Council as “the most vicious attempts by the United States to isolate” North Korea.

The ambassador praised the allegedly successful testing of a hydrogen bomb on 3 September, an event which he described as “a very significant milestone”, adding that the measures were acts of “self defence” against “hostile US policy.”

The past few months have seen a build-up of tensions on the Korean Peninsula and an exchange of aggressive rhetoric between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
