Germany: De Maiziere announces ban of 'left-wing extremist' Indymedia website
German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere announced the ban of the “left-wing extremist” Linksunten Indymedia internet platform, in Berlin, Friday.
De Maiziere stated, "From now on, not before, the operation of this platform is a criminal offence," adding, "only the branch Linksunten is affected, because on this platform the glorification and the call for violence arise through operators of left-wing extremist violence."
Security authorities regard the site, launched in 2009, as one of the most influential medium in the left wing scene.
