Russia: FSB arrests four IS suspects in plotting attacks in Moscow
Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) detained four people suspected of having links with the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) at an undisclosed location in Moscow Region, Monday. The suspects were allegedly plotting suicide bombing attacks in the Russian capital.
According to officials, among the detainees are an explosives specialist, an IS emissary who is believed to be the mastermind behind the planned attacks and two would-be suicide bombers.
A laboratory for the production of explosives was also reportedly found during the operation.
The group was allegedly planning a series of "terrorist attacks in places of mass gatherings, including those on transport and major shopping venues in Moscow," the FSB said.
