Russia: 'I will run up and hug her' - son of Hurghada attack survivor

"My friends called me and said that looks like it was my ex-wife, I called her, I called the Embassy, I was given full information, they talked to me online, they gave me the phone of the chief physician, the attending physician, of the hospital. That is, I had full information about the state of her health online."

"There are deep wounds on her hands, there are wounds on the neck and face, but they are minor. May be there was something to do with the plastic, I do not know the details of the surgery. They unhesitatingly say that in two-three days she will return to Moscow."

"She was in a state of shock, so she spoke, but it was clear that she was on the verge of life and death. She said a large Arab male ran out with a knife, stabbed women, who then died, then ran to her. She tried to fight him, fought back. Maybe he saw that already there was considerable bruising so he left her and ran through the fence, and then she found out when the events developed further. In general, she defended herself, so she managed to save herself."

"That morning when he woke up I told him we have bad news. I told him everything. The fact is that he asked to go to Egypt with his mum. I refused on the grounds that it's not safe. He was in a state of shock, was worried. I calmed him. Well, now we're communicating, the shock has passed I guess."

The ex-husband and son of the Russian woman, Yelena Mikhailenko, injured in the stabbing attack at Hurghada in Egypt, recounted hearing the news in Moscow, on Saturday.

Alexander, son of Mikhailenko, said that when his mother comes home he "will run up to her, will hug her, will say that all is well and [will ask her] not to fly to Egypt anymore".

Yelena's ex-husband spoke about the injuries, stating "there are deep wounds on hands, there are wounds on the neck and face, but they are minor". Of the attack itself, he added, e tried to fight him, fought back. Maybe he saw that already there was considerable bruising so he left her and ran through the fence."

The stabbing attack in Hurghada happened on July 14, two women died and six injured, including Mikhailenko.
