Antonio Tajani, European Parliament President (French): "Mr President I ask you please to use different language. We are not ridiculous."

Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission (English): "I will never, I will never again attend meeting of this kind. The Commission is under the control of the Parliament, but the Parliament has to respect even the presidencies of smaller countries, which the Parliament is not doing. I wanted to pay tribute to the Maltese government and to the Prime Minister, I wanted to pay tribute to what the Prime Minister of Malta did, he made an excellent work as did all the of Maltese Prime Ministers, and high civil servants and other civil servants of Malta - excellent job. Thank you." *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker labelled the European Parliament as "ridiculous" after only 30 MEPs attended a review of Malta's European Council presidency, in Strasbourg, on Tuesday.

"The Parliament has to respect even the presidencies of smaller countries, which the Parliament is not doing," stressed Juncker, before adding "If Mr Muscat would be Ms Merkel, difficult to imagine, or Mr Macron, easier to imagine, [in English] we would have a full house. The parliament is totally ridiculous."

European Parliament President Antonio Tajani interrupted Juncker's rant urging him to be more respectful adding, "The Commission does not control the Parliament it is the Parliament which is controlling the Commission, please."

Juncker branded the body ridiculous again, before vowing "I will never, I will never again attend meeting of this kind. The Commission is under the control of the Parliament, but the Parliament has to respect even the presidencies of smaller countries, which the Parliament is not doing."
