
USA: Doctor dead, 6 injured after gunman unloads assault rifle at Bronx hospital
A doctor was shot dead by a gunman with an assault rifle at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York City, Friday, with the assailant reportedly injuring six other people in the attack, five of them seriously.
The gunman was reportedly a former doctor at the Bronx hospital and killed himself following the attack.
Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio was at the site following the tragedy, telling press and onlookers that despite the fatal attack, “thank God it was not an act of terrorism."
Police sources have suggested to US media that the gunman was Henry Bello, a former doctor at the hospital. However, official sources are yet to confirm the attacker’s identity.
