France: Chasse-sur-Rhone residents evacuated after 'strong smell of gas' permeates town

French police set up security cordons and evacuated residents of the town of Chasse-sur-Rhone, south of Lyon, Friday, after receiving an alert of a car stuffed with gas canisters, Friday.

Almost 200 people were evacuated from their homes while bomb squads examined the vehicle.

A 27-year-old man, believed to have been the driver of the car, was arrested. Authorities ruled out terrorism as the motive behind the incident.
