Scores of Texans rallied at Hermann Park in Houston, Saturday to defend the Sam Houston Statue which local Antifa groups allegedly called to demolish on account of the figures slave owning past.

Many gathered flew Confederate and Texas flags and carried guns. “How can we eradicate all this history, it's never going to be enough,” said one protester Virginia Bozalina.

Houston was the Republic of Texas' first president, a slave owner who also refused to take an oath of allegiance to the Confederacy. The statue has stood near the park since 1924.
