France: Notre Dame attacker identified as Algerian, previously unknown to authorities
Paris prosecutor Francois Molins identified the individual who carried out an attack against police officers near Notre Dame Cathedral on Tuesday as Farid Ikken, a 40-year-old Algerian national, speaking to the press in the French capital, Saturday.
Molins stated that it was "A terrorist attack carried out by an individual - acting alone - with a hammer and carrying two knives. An individual identified as Farid I., born on January 18, 1977, in Akbou, Algeria, of Algerian nationality."
Molins went on to stress that Farid I. had "never shown his relatives signs of radicalisation" and had never been convicted with a crime.
