President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte said the he would be responsible for the consequences and ramifications of the martial law he recently implemented in the Mindanao islands, Saturday.

Speaking to soldiers on the southern Philippine island, Duterte said, "For this martial law and the consequences of martial law, and the ramifications of martial law, I and I alone would be responsible." He continued saying that he "will answer for everything" and that commanders now "can arrest any person, search any house, without a warrant."

While talking to the journalists, the president allegedly also made a rape joke, according to which he stated that if any of his soldiers would rape three women, he will be the one to admit that he did it.

Duterte declared martial law on the collection of islands May 24 for a period of 60 days. Mindanao has a population of 200,000.
