Switzerland: Moscow platform supports establishment of special consultative mechanism
Moscow platform of the Syrian opposition supports the idea of creating "an expert committee" for addressing the issue of constitution change in the country, head of the delegation Mohannad Dlykan told reporters in Geneva, Wednesday.
Commenting on the proposal paper, given by the UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura to the delegations participating in Geneva talks, Dlykan expressed concerns of the Moscow group stepping back from the main principle of discussing the four main groups of issues - anti-terrorism, drafting new constitution, elections and governance - in favour of focusing on just constitution related issues during the sixth round. Dlykan added that his team had suggested extending the idea of creating an expert committee to discuss constitution for all four groups of issues on the agenda.
On Tuesday, de Mistura gave a proposal paper to the delegations suggesting to establish a special consultative mechanism on constitution and legal matters.
