      Switzerland: De Mistura holds talks with Syrian government and HNC in Geneva

      First day of the sixth round of the intra-Syrian peace talks went into late night as UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura held second sessions of negotiations with both the Syrian government delegation and Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC), at the UN headquarters in Geneva, Tuesday.

      Earlier in the day de Mistura also met with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Gennadi Gatilov as well as with the representatives of Moscow and Cairo platforms of the Syrian opposition.

      The current round of talks is expected to be shorter and more business-like than the previous five. The talks are set to wrap up by Saturday, May 20.
