Venezuela's opposition seeks to cause chaos and forcibly oust President Nicolas Maduro, claimed Elias Jose Jaua Milano, President of the Commission for the National Constituent Assembly, in an exclusive interview for RT in Caracas on Friday.

"They are not interested in taking part in the elections when the situation is politically, economically and socially stable," said Milano, adding "initially they wanted the election to take place amid economic and social chaos in the country, thus they could have won by creating a mess in our society. This is their goal."

Milano alleged the opposition protesters were using firearms on Venezuelan security forces, claiming that the latter were still limited in using only water cannons and tear gas in response. "Although [the protesters] have already resorted to the use of firearms, the commanders of special forces still have orders to use only water cannons and tear gas," he said.

"This is all a combined strategy aiming at creating chaos in the country's institutions, creating chaos in the society, at promoting the clashes between civilians, with the purpose of justifying the thesis of a failed state and with that, the foreign military intervention," ended Milano.
