The framework of the Russian Navy's new 20360М supply vessel was unveiled at a keel-laying ceremony at the Vympel Shipyard in Rybinsk, Friday. The prospective ship is named after Gennady Dmitriev, who led the construction projects of more than 36 ships at the dockyard.

Maxim Garanin, who is the Chief Engineer of the 20360М construction, said that the ship’s main purpose is to “load and carry rocket, artillery and mine ammunition." The ship will be deployed at the Russian Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol in 2019.

The vessel is designed with a reinforced hull to break ice; with a bow thruster, two cargo holds, a platform for the transportation of goods in containers; and with a crane with a carrying capacity of 20 tons; and a helipad. The ship's length is 77 metres (253 feet) and its width is 15.8 metres (52 feet), and its displacement is 3,627 tons.
