Ukraine: Svoboda and trade unions protest adoption of new labour code
Hundreds of protesters, including Svoboda activists, gathered outside the Ministry of Social Policy in Kiev on Thursday to protest against the government’s adoption of a new Labour Code.
Protesters held placards, waved Svoboda flags and chanted, while a significant police presence was deployed to contain the demonstration.
The new Labour Code reportedly paves the way for managers to monitor employees using cameras as well as microphones. The law has also been heavily criticised due to a number of discrepancies in its articles, according to reports. It is also expected to diminish the roles and powers of labour unions.
