France: 'I will vote for Emmanuel Macron' - Hollande
Outgoing-French President Francois Hollande urged French voters to back presidential candidate for En Marche Emmanuel Macron in the upcoming second round of the French Presidential elections, during an address from the Elysee Palace in Paris, Monday.
"I will vote for Emmanuel Macron," the French president stated, adding that Macron is "the one who has the values which allow for French unity."
Hollande then described Macron's contender, Marine Le Pen of the National Front, as a "massive risk".
"Faced with that massive risk, it is not possible to stay silent or to be indifferent," he said. "We need to mobilise but also to choose clearly," he called on the French electorate.
Hollande's address came one day after the first round of votes, where the final result put Le Pen on 21.3 percent, trailing Macron, who secured 24.01 percent of the vote.
Le Pen and Macron will face off in the second round scheduled for May 7.
