
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bosnian War veterans unveil monument honouring Russian volunteers
A monument in the shape of a cross was unveiled in Visegrad, Wednesday, to commemorate the Russian volunteers who fought in the ranks of the Bosnian Serb Army during the Bosnian War between 1992 and 1995.
A small crowd attended the event, including some of the Russian veterans who took part in the conflict, as well as the parish priest of Visegrad, Rajko Cvetkovic, who thanked the foreign forces and blessed "that debt and the feat they carried out."
The cross monument was donated by the Serbian "April 12" Veterans Association from the city of Mitrovica in Kosovo, and measures 5,5 meters (18 feet) in height and 400 kilograms (881 pounds) in weight.
According to data collected by the Bosnian Serb Army, 37 Russian foreign fighters were killed during the Bosnian War.
