UN: Security Council holds minute of silence to mourn Westminster attack
United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson condemned the recent attack in London at a UN Security Council meeting in New York City on Thursday. UN Security Council members then stood for a moment's silence to mourn the victims of the attack.
"On behalf of members of the [UN] Security Council I would like to condemn strongly the cowardly terrorist attack which took place in London on the 22nd of March and which resulted in the death and serious injury of many innocent people" he said.
A total of four people were killed and at least 29 injured when an attacker drove a car into a crowd of people on London's Westminster Bridge on Wednesday. The assailant then stabbed a police officer at the entrance to the Houses of Parliament, before he was shot dead by police.
The London Metropolitan Police anti-terror unit confirmed that eight people were arrested following raids at six addresses across the country that evening.
