
Russia: Putin meets Sri Lankan Pres. Sirisena in Moscow to strengthen bilateral ties
President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena met in Moscow on Thursday, to strengthen relations between both countries and to mark the "60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties."
Putin noted that "it will be very useful to discuss international issues, including a situation in the region". He also called on both countries strengthen the "development of trade-economic ties".
Sirisena underlined that during the 60 years of diplomatic ties between both countries, "the friendship between our countries has grown and strengthened".
The last meeting between the leaders took place in India on the sidelines of BRICS summit in October 2016.
