Syria: Assad claims US Syria policy exists on multiple standards

SOT, Bashar Assad, Syrian President (English): "American policy based on many standards, not double. They have maybe ten standards. Because they don't base their policy on values or on international law. They base it on their own view, on their own interest, sometimes on the balance of different lobbies, powers within different American institutions. We all know that. So we don't talk about double standards. This is very normal for the US. For example, the attack, their raids against ISIS in Mosul, in Iraq was something good to see, positive. But the same raid, by the Syrian and Russian army, aeroplanes or troops on the ground in Aleppo, to liberate the people of Aleppo is against human rights, according to their political discourse. This is natural for the American policy. For the West, in general, not only for Americans. White Helmets are al-Qaeda, they're al-Qaeda members and that is proven on the net. The same members are killing or executing or celebrating over the dead bodies, at the same time they are humanitarian heroes and now they have [an] Oscar as you know. That is to be expected by the Americans, we have to ignore all the narrative. Their own public does not believe the narrative anymore. They don't know the truth yet. The public opinion in the West in general - they know there is a lie, but they don't know what is the truth and that is why they have a problem with RT for example, for that reason." *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

The Syrian President Bashar Assad stated that United States policy is "based on many standards" in the Syrian war, speaking to the RT journalist Roman Kosachev in Damascus, Monday.

Kosachev mentioned the recent strike at the mosque near Aleppo, which reportedly claimed the lives of dozens of residents and pointed out that sources such as The White Helmets and Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had confirmed the information. He asked Assad whether the US held a double standard, when the Pentagon rejected the allegegations that it was a US strike on the mosque, while the US had previously held up these groups as "reliable resources".

According to Assad, "American policy based on many standards, not double. They have maybe ten standards. Because they don't base their policy on values or on international law." Assad claimed there were other examples of double standards in the US response on Syria, saying, "Their raids against ISIS in Mosul, in Iraq was something good to see, positive. But the same raid, by the Syrian and Russian army, aeroplanes or troops on the ground in Aleppo, to liberate the people of Aleppo is against human rights, according to their political discourse."
