UK: Scotland will have second independence referendum - Sturgeon
First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon promised that "the people of Scotland will have a choice, they will have an independence referendum" at her closing speech in the Scottish National Party's (SNP) spring conference in Aberdeen, Saturday.
Sturgeon said that if British Prime Minister Theresa May was to block the referendum, it would mean that "the path of our country was determined not by us but for us, decided by an increasingly right-wing Brexit obsessed Tory government."
She slammed senior figures in May's cabinet, including Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and International Trade Secretary Liam Fox, saying that they are "deluding themselves about rebuilding the empire and refloating the royal yacht Britannia."
The first minister concluded her address by announcing that next week she will ask the Scottish parliament to give her a permission to open discussions with the UK government on the second independence referendum.
