Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the UN Bashar Jaafari met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura at the United Nations offices in Geneva, Thursday, as UN-mediated intra-Syrian peace talks continued in Geneva.
De Mistura is moderating the ongoing peace talks between Syrian government and opposition members. Both Moscow and Cairo groups of the Syrian opposition, as well as the Riyadh-formed High Negotiations Committee (HNC) have met separately with de Mistura.
The intra-Syrian peace talks began February 23 following the conclusion of talks brokered by Russia, Turkey, Iran and Syrian factions in Astana on February 15-16.
