US President Donald Trump signed a repeal to reverse former-US President Barack Obama's coal mining regulation, intended to guard waterways from coal mining waste, at the White House on Thursday.
Trump described the US Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining's Stream Protection Rule as one of the "wasteful regulations" that did "nothing, absolutely nothing but slow down the economy, hamstring companies" and "push jobs to other countries”.
Trump said Obama’s rule was a “major threat to your jobs” which he was "eliminating".
This is the second rule from the former administration that Trump has overwritten in the past week.
On Tuesday, the President repealed a regulation demanding extraction companies report their payments to foreign governments over production activities.
