Germany: Merkel talks with drag queen Olivia Jones at presidential election
Over 1,200 people gathered for a special Federal Assembly including members of the federal parliament and special delegates from Germany's 16 states, in Berlin, on Sunday, to elect the next German federal president.
Amongst the politicians, many celebrities including Drag queen Olivia Jones and German football coach Joachim Low will elect the successor to the current Federal President Joachim Gauck.
During the opening of the annual meeting, President of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert called for a strong Europe, and warned against the negative effects of "calling for closure instead of cosmopolitanism", "literally building a wall" and preaching "isolationism over the cooperation of the countries".
It is expected that the Former foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will receive the majority of votes and take over the ceremonial position.
