From black garlic to a suction cup to eat granadilla, attendees at the Fruit Logistica were able to sample the latest technology in the world of fruits and vegetables, in Berlin, Wednesday.
One of the innovations seen at the fair was a pioneering sales vending machine, which offers instant apple juice in a cup. Enrico Musumeci, export manager of the company responsible for the invention, Oranfresh, explained that the machine can be placed at any location where one could find a vending machine, from an office to a mall.
Some other products need to be adapted to other countries. An example is the granadilla, a fruit really common in Colombia but as Daniela Manjarnes from the company Ocati explains, not everybody knows how to eat it, so they have created a suction cup to help out whomever struggles eating the fruit.
The Fruit Logistica is the leading international trade show for fruit and vegetables. Each year the show attracts around 50,000 attendees from some 120 different countries.
