
Russia: 17 billion rubles invested in Kamchatka fishing industry in 2016

Kamchatka Territory Governor Vladimir Ilyukhin reported that around 17 billion rubles ($287 million) were invested in the Kamchatka fishing industry coast in 2016, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Friday.
"The industry is being actively supported and developed. About 17 billion rubles have been invested in the coast. There are 16 new plants built on the west and east coast. Fishermen are investing," stated Ilyukhin, adding that the new plants were "the most advanced in the Russian Federation."
The Kamchatka Governor added that "In 2016, our fishermen produced more than one million tonnes of bioresources."
