Russia: Barbaric attacks in Donetsk cannot be justified - Zakharova
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that there was no justification for the 'barbaric attacks' on Donetsk, in Moscow, on Friday.
Zakharova reported, "Overnight on the 3rd February Donetsk was heavily bombarded by the Ukrainian military. The city's residential areas were shelled dozens of times with heavy guns including Uragan and Grad multiple rocket launchers, several civilians were killed and many were injured, I want to stress, that amongst those injured were children and a lot of damage was inflicted."
She stressed, "This barbaric attack cannot be justified, Kiev has not only violated the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, dated August 12, 1949, with their actions but generally trampled upon all moral norms."
She added, "Today in Kiev they not only didn't express and are not expressing any concern over the new spiral of the crisis and it's humanitarian consequences and are unwilling to accept any responsibility, but they also do not hesitate to boast their military's actions in Donbass."
