Germany: Hundreds march in support of housing secretary fired over Stasi links
Hundreds marched against the dismissal of Berlin's housing secretary Andrej Holm, on Saturday. Supporters of the Die Linke politician, who was fired over his links to the East German secret police, took to the streets of Berlin.
Protesters held placards expressing support for Holm, who also teaches at Humboldt University.
Many of his supporters claimed Holm was dismissed due to his hardline opposition to gentrification.
Holm was dismissed on 16 January as Berlin housing secretary after he admitted that he received training from the East German secret police when he was a teenager. As a consequence, he also lost his job at Humboldt university, where he was a lecturer.
