Italy: Refugees protest outside Ai Weiwei exhibition following deadly fire
Dozens of refugees staged a protesting front of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, Thursday, over the death of 44-year refugee, who was died in a fire at a factory in Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence.
Some of the refugees occupied the building of the factory in Sesto Fiorentino; others gathered in front of the palace, where a famous Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei is exhibiting his work, much of which focuses on immigration.
Sesto Fiorentino authorities attempted to establish a dialogue with the protesters, offering them temporary accommodation in a local sports hall. As a result some twenty protesters agreed to leave the protest. Florence authorities promised that the state would find a more convenient accommodation solution for the refugees.
