Russia: 'Politicisation of international relations' harms global economy – Medvedev

Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev stated that 'politicisation of international relations is an important feature of the modern economy which effects everything,' during a speech on the opening day of the 8th Gaidar Forum in Moscow, Thursday.

Also during his address, Medvedev underlined that "the risk of a growing technological gap in our country is one of the most serious challenges, may be the most serious," adding it is necessary to promote competition and reduce the state presence in the economy, increase the attractiveness of investment in the regions."

The Gaidar Forum has been held since 2010 and was named after Yegor Gaidar, the Russian economist who served under former Russian President Boris Yeltsin. The forum is regarded as a platform for the discussion of major world and Russian economic issues.
