Russian First Deputy Defence Minister Ruslan Tsalikov announced in Moscow on Sunday, that one of Russia’s military medical institutions will be named after Tu-154 crash victim Elizaveta Glinka, widely known as Doctor Liza.

He said: "Elizaveta Glinka, known as Doctor Liza, has done a lot; it was not her first trip with us to Syria. We will bring all this to [its] end. The Defence Minister made the decision of assigning her name to one of our military medical institutions."

The decision was taken by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu after the crash of the Tu-154 aircraft which was bound for Hmeimim airbase, in Syria's Latakia province, carrying the official army choir of the Russian armed forces, the Alexandrov Ensemble, also known as the Red Army Choir. Glinka was also at the aircraft, accompanying the group delivering humanitarian aid to the airbase.

Doctor Liza was a public figure and human rights activist, doctor-resuscitator, director of a 'Fair Help' charity fund, known for helping many children with severe diseases and for active fundraising.

The Tu-154 plane was carrying in total 92 people, including 84 passengers and eight crew members. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, no survivors have been found at the crash site, while eleven bodies have been recovered so far. The plane crashed just 20 minutes after take-off, from Sochi, early on Sunday.
