Russia: 'Possible, but not advisable' - Putin on possibility of early Pres. elections

"In which country?" - joked Vladimir Putin, when asked by Wall Street Journal journalist Nathan Hodge on the possibility of earlier presidential elections in 2018, adding that "it's possible, but not advisable." Russian President Vladimir Putin was speaking to journalists at the World Trade Centre, on the bank of the Moscow River, Friday, during his annual marathon Q&A.

During the traditional end-of-year Q&A marathon session, Putin was once again asked on the future presidential elections in Russia. Kommersant newspaper reporter Andrey Kolesnikov wanted the Russian Head of State to comment on why Putin should or should not nominate himself for the next elections in 2018. Putin called the Russian correspondent "a provocateur," adding that the time for the decision will come and it will depend on the situation in the country and in the world as a whole and what will have been achieved by the current administration.

Putin's annual press conference was first held in 2001. The longest press conference that the Russian leader recorded was in 2008, which lasted for four hours and 40 minutes.
