UK: Pro-Brexit protesters rally in London ahead of Supreme Court hearing on Article 50

More than 30 pro-Brexit protesters gathered outside the Houses of Parliament in London on Sunday to demand a speedy British exit from the European Union.

The rally took place just a day ahead of the appeal hearing in the UK's Supreme Court on the government's right to trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, which is the formal mechanism to leave the European Union. The crowd chanted "What do we want? Brexit. When do we want it? Now!" and held banners, urging authorities to respect the result of the referendum. According to some of the activists, "establishment" politicians are now trying to stop the Brexit process, neglecting, said one, the voice of the "common people," who had cast their vote in June in favour of leaving the EU.

The appeal hearing in the Supreme Court on the right to trigger Article 50 without the consent of Parliament is due to start on Monday morning, December 5, and conclude at the start of 2017.
