Syria: Residents from liberated eastern Aleppo districts receive 150 tonnes of Russian aid
The Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides in the Syrian Arab Republic delivered nearly 150 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the residents of eastern Aleppo, Sunday.
The footage shows the Russian military personnel deploying a field kitchen and distributing hot meals to the gathered civilians.
Besides hot meals, the civilians received humanitarian packages, including sugar, flour, canned meat and fish, among other essential products.
According to Head of the Reconciliation Centre in Syria, Vladimir Savchenko, the situation in eastern parts of Aleppo, which are still under anti-government control "remains extremely difficult." He claimed that "illegal armed groups use civilians as a human shield" and that the "male population, including the youths aged from 14 to 16 years old and older, are forced into a total mobilisation." Savchenko added that the situation "significantly impacts peaceful life of people who use any opportunity to flee violence and leave the areas controlled by militants."
Government troops are continuing their offensive to retake rebel-held areas of the beleaguered city. According to the Russian Centre, the The Syrian Army (SAA) has now liberated over 40 percent of eastern Aleppo which was previously under the control of the anti-government forces. Furthermore, a total of ten militants have reportedly retreated from the rebel-held areas of the beleaguered city in the past 24 hours.
