Russia: Putin supports future technology at Sberbank's 175th anniv. conference

President of Russia Vladimir Putin emphasised his support for the future of technology at Sberbank’s conference, in Moscow, on Thursday, marking 175 years of the banks existence.

During his address, Putin stressed, "It is important for Russia to make progress in new technological trends, to understand our stronger and weaker sides."

Putin noted that, "We can’t ignore the threats existing in cyber security, in systems of web access, because digitalisation of social and private life demands strong protection in the interests of both citizens and the state. We should take into full account the possibilities of technological progress and its potential risks to form an effective strategy for the development of technologies in our country."

Prominent international specialists took part in the large-scale event titled 'Forward to the Future: The role and the place of Russia.'

The conference was devoted to the bank's direction of development with regards to modern technology, the forecasting of future technological trends and the potential achievements and risks.

Sberbank is Russia's oldest financial institution, founded in 1841.
