      France: Trump's election 'opens a period of uncertainty' - Hollande

      French President Francois Hollande congratulated US President-elect Donald Trump on his victory in the United States presidential election, from Paris on Wednesday.

      However Hollande warned that, for France, "this American election opens a period of uncertainty that I will face with lucidity and clarity."

      He added, "the USA represent a priority partner for France and what it is at stake now is peace, the fight against terrorism, the situation in the Middle East, economic relations and the preservation of the planet. On all these subjects, I will engage myself to have a discussion with the new US administration."
