US Secretary of State John Kerry called for an "appropriate investigation on war crimes" regarding alleged Russian and Syrian government airstrikes on hospital in Aleppo, during a joint address with French Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Marc Ayrault in Washington, Friday.

"Last night the regime attacked yet another hospital, and 20 people were killed and 100 people were wounded. And Russia and the regime owe the world more than an explanation about why they keep hitting hospitals, medical facilities, and children and women," stated the US diplomat.

Kerry also addressed the Minsk agreement implementation in his address, saying "it is important for us to make it clear publicly, that if we cannot implement Minsk in the next months, […]then it will be absolutely necessary to roll over the sanctions, which is not our desire, but becomes the only thing left to do if we are not able to move forward."

The statement is the latest salvo in the war of words between Washington and Moscow amid disintegrating cooperation over the conflict in Syria. The US disengaged with Russia claiming the country lacked "credibility" in Syria while Moscow responded by saying Washington failed to live up to its obligations in the war-torn country.
