USA: Drums ring out in Charlotte as police release full video of Keith Lamont Scott shooting

Charlotte continued to respond to the fatal police shooting of unarmed African American Keith Lamont Scott, Tuesday, after a week of protests have rocked the city and the release of full police dash-cam and body-cam footage of Lamont’s death on Tuesday.

A march and a candlelight vigil were held to honour the deceased 43-year-old, as well as protester Justin Carr, who was shot dead during a demonstration against Scotts’ killing. A discussion panel was also held by local community leaders, hosted by radio station NPR, to talk about the recent police violence in the city and how its citizens should respond.

Earlier this week, Charlotte police department released footage from the dashboard camera of one of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police vehicles at the scene of the shooting of Keith Scott. Scott's death is the latest incident in a long line of police shootings and has been met with outrage from the African-American community, Black Lives Matter activists, other anti-racist groups, and the general public.

The scale of the demonstrations over the shooting prompted North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory to deploy the National Guard and declare a state of emergency, which has since been rescinded.
