
Russia: Putin congratulates the winners of the Silk Way Rally 2016
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the KAMAZ-Master racing team and the organisers of the Silk Way Rally 2016, in Moscow on Thursday. The Russian leader congratulated the truck's drivers who claimed both first and second place finishes in this year’s race.
Putin said that “it is interesting that you used such kind of cooperation and competition as a mixed crew,” noting that one of the vehicles was “composed of the Russian and Chinese sportsmen.”
The rally started from Moscow’s Red Square on July 8 and ended after 15 legs later in China’s Tiananmen Square, Beijing, on July 24.
The Silk Way Rally has been held annually since 2009 however it did not take place in 2014 and 2015.
KAMAZ-Master is a racing team from the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, the team has won numerous races, including Dakar Rally and Rally-Raid World Cup.
