Russia: EMERCOM investigating cause of helicopter crash that killed 3 in Oktyabrsky

Russia's Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) has opened an investigation into the causes of one of its helicopters that crashed in Oktyabrsky village on Wednesday evening, killing all three crew members on board, according to a statement by the temporary head of the Central Regional Centre of Russia's EMERCOM, Aprel Agakishiev, from Moscow, Thursday.

Agakishiev said that the chopper came down at 21.12 "four kilometres from the Oktyabrsky village of the Lyubertsy District in Moscow Region." Emergency units responded, "localised the fire," and "the bodies of the crew of three people were recovered."

Agakishiev stated that "operational and investigative actions as well as psychological support was organised" and that the investigation is ongoing, however currently the cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

The Emergencies Ministry’s Mil Mi-8 helicopter crashed while reportedly carrying out a training mission.
