Kyrgyzstan: Lavrov visits Anton Chekhov school in Bishkek
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Kyrgyz counterpart Erlan Abdyldaev visited a school in Bishkek, on Friday, named after one of the Russia's greatest writers, Anton Chekhov.
The school officially opened its doors at September 1, as part of the 'Russian school abroad' project approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin in November 2015. There are 350 students at the school who will get both Russian and Kyrgyz certificates.
Speaking in front of the school personnel and pupils, Lavrov stated that "this is one the first facilities that has been built and completed within this concept in a very short time. In three months the building was fully reconstructed, repaired and equipped with the latest means required for education process and at the highest international standards."
Lavrov, Putin and other high-ranking officials are on official visit to Kyrgyzstan to take part in the Summit of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
