Germany: Steinmeier in contact with Russia for stronger Ukraine ceasefire
German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said he had been in contact with the Russian government for two days in a row in order to prepare a stronger ceasefire agreement for Ukraine, during a press conference with his Danish counterpart Kristian Jensen in Berlin, Tuesday.
"Tomorrow we will also talk with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister and President. And I hope that in the next weeks we will reach progress in calming down the situation in Ukraine", Steinmeier declared.
The German FM and his Danish counterpart Kristian Jensen also talked about the future of Europe after the Brexit vote. "Instead of talking about a larger EU, we're talking about a better EU", Jensen said, stressing that recent referendums have shown that "there is skeptics of getting too integrated in certain areas."
